Or at least, that’s how it seems. The reality is different: behind the scenes in Amsterdam, our team has been preparing for months. On the other side of the world, in India and Nepal, it’s the exact same story. Rome wasn’t built in a day, but bricks were laid every hour.
In our case, those bricks are gemstones ;). Join us as we share how a new autumn winter collection comes to life.
From brainstorm to beauty
It all starts with endless brainstorming. Which themes speak to us? What are the trend colors of the season? Which gemstones fit the story? Decision overload! Each gem is a thing of beauty. Do we pair Tiger Eye jewelry with Lapis Lazuli, or with Citrine? Which symbols do we carry over from previous collections, and which ones will we create from scratch? Spoiler: this season, Elephant & Eye are making a magical entrance. Bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches, notebooks – ideas fly across the table, and the true beauties & cuties land safely on the design desk.
We care, we share, we co-create.
Detailed design drawings are sent to our producers in India and Nepal. From the makers, we receive valuable input and feedback, they have all the technical expertise and take the lead when it comes to methods and execution. Everyone has their own role to play. We care, we share, we co-create. We are one big family, and every product feels like a newborn family member. Once the samples are perfect, the materials are purchased and the makers can begin. Each workshop and each artisan has their own speciality, ranging from cutting gemstones to casting symbols, from beadwork to making paper. They apply traditional techniques, often passed down from generation to generation. Honest craftsmanship, for an honest wage. Exactly as it should be.
